Kaiden's Story
Kaiden is 5 years old was diagnosed with Leukemia on May 22, 2021. A few weeks leading up to diagnosis he started getting real pale and short of breath. He was really bruised and complained of chest pain. They finally did some blood work on May 19th, and we were told he may have a blood disorder, and to follow up in two weeks. I was not comfortable with that decision after looking at the labs myself. We took him on to the ER the night of the 21st. He was diagnosed within a couple of hours with Leukemia.
The past 9 months have definitely been a roller coaster for us. The first couple of months he stayed in the hospital a lot and also got pancreatitis from one of the chemo drugs. He had a rough time with that. We were in and out of the hospital several times for fever. We live so far away from the hospital that it was always very stressful and emotionally draining and scary to get him there.
He is feeling a lot better the past few weeks. He has his good days and bad. Most of all we are just so thankful and blessed that he has done as well as he has, and we thank God daily. All of this has definitely taken a toll on us emotionally, physically and financially without me being able to work, but God has always provided.
