Hannah's Story
Hannah is a 14 years old girl with Type I Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) combined with scoliosis . Hannah has been breaking bones since she was 2 years old. She has broken 30 bones, not including fingers and toes. Hannah is getting Pamidronate (IV) infusions at Duke University every 3 months. Every infusion takes four hours.
Hannah was diagnosed with Osteogenesis Imperfecta when she was 3 years old. Osteogenesis Imperfecta, is a brittle bone disease which means Hannah’s bones can break just by standing, walking, and running. Hannah also has scoliosis which is a result of OI. Hannah is a happy sweet girl and lives life to the fullest! She enjoys playing softball, and loves watching her favorite MLB team – the Cincinnati Reds. Hannah will soon be homeschooled because she misses a lot of school as a result of all her doctor appointments.
