Jase's Journey
Jase started fall football as normal just before the start of the school year. He was lacking his normal speed, strength and stamina, and went to the doctor for pulled groin muscles. One week later he presented with thrush. Immediately we went to the doctor again, at which time she ran labs. The next day we were told his labs were critical and that we were being directly admitted to the children's hospital. After a battery of tests and biopsies, 3 days later, Jase was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. In October, Jase had a small set back of methotrexate toxicity in his brain that presented as a stroke. He has since resumed treatment after a 2 week hold of all chemo.
