Angel's Story
Angel was diagnosed when I was 4 months pregnant.. When she was born she was put on a ventilator for the first week of her life. She spent 2 weeks in the NICU at that hospital, then transferred to Dayton Children's where she received a G-tube and spent the next 2 weeks there. She was released on July 7th. The first year she spent in and out of the hospital with feeding issues, severe acid reflux,and many illnesses. At 1 year old she had surgery to repair her heart.
At age 2 she had RSV and Pneumonia and had to be transferred to a hospital an hour away for treatment. She fought 2 viruses and 3 infections all at once and we thought we were going to loose her then. She ended up getting better and coming home. She developed Severe Pulmonary Hypertension and was diagnosed as having the mind of a 5 month old baby.
At the age of 3, she had a trach placed and became vent dependent. She then was in and out of the hospital so much, we were hardly home before having to go back. She kept getting infections and coming down with viruses. Her immune system was so low, she caught just about everything. She is now 5 1/2 years old and a very happy little girl.
